MLM Construction Group started in 2009 doing exactly what we still do: roofs on Brooklyn houses. Rowhouses in Bensonhurst and Midwood, brownstone parapets in Park Slope and Bed-Stuy, flat roof extensions behind two family homes in Sheepshead Bay, and commercial buildings that needed a membrane that would survive another twenty winters.
Brooklyn roofing is its own trade. Almost every house here is attached, so half the leaks we get called on are not even coming from the roof field, they come from a shared parapet, a coping joint, a neighbor's flashing, or a drain that has not been opened in ten years. Water travels sideways before it comes through a ceiling. A contractor who learned on detached suburban houses will patch the stain and be gone before the next storm proves it did not work.
So we built the company around diagnosis first. Every job starts with someone on the roof taking photographs, sounding the deck, and following the water path back to where it actually enters. You get those photos with the estimate. If the answer is that your roof has five good years left and needs $600 of flashing work, that is what the estimate says. We have talked more than a few people out of a replacement they came to us ready to buy.
Every job is managed by Meir Levy personally. That is not a marketing line, it is the reason the same person who priced your roof is the one you call when you have a question about it six months later.
The rest is paperwork most homeowners never think to ask for until it goes wrong: a real NYC Home Improvement Contractor license, a certificate of insurance issued to you before the crew arrives, manufacturer certifications that keep your material warranty valid, and a workmanship warranty printed on the estimate rather than promised in a driveway.
